Your opportunity to see what Connecticut was like in the Summer of 2000 will happen this week as a time capsule that has been buried for 25 years will be cracked open.

Were you alive to see the turn of the century? For us older folk, New Year's Eve 1999 to 2000 was probably the biggest party of our lifetime, and someone out there preserved those memories in a time capsule. It was a very different world 25 years ago, before 9/11 and the iPhone, we got our news on our Nokia and Razr's. Steaming movies and music from our phones? No, we went to Blockbuster and Strawberries. You can get a look at how we did things back then in Litchfield this weekend.

The Town of Litchfield CT has just announced that a time capsule that was put together by students of Litchfield High School and was sealed up and buried on June 7, 2000 has recently been discovered, and it will be cracked open on the 25th anniversary this Saturday, June 7, 2025. The event will take place at 10AM at Plumb Hill Middle School (Formerly Litchfield High School), and the Town of Litchfield would love the alumni of the Class of 2000 especially to come see this special unveiling. The invite is open to all alumni, and another special event will happen at the same time - current Plum Middle School students will seal their own time capsule.

What items will see daylight for the first time in a quarter century? What is popular enough to be considered to go into the new time capsule? This is an excellent opportunity to watch a historical event in person.
