44-Year-Old Bartolo Colon Had a Perfect Game Yesterday Into the 8th
This guy is bonkers. Bartolo Colon has been in the majors for over 20 years and still has "it." Colon, is not exactly what you think of when you think about a pro athlete but there he is year after year giving more than most guys who are twenty years younger.
He's 44 years old now and pitching for the Texas Rangers. Yesterday, Colon took a perfect game into the 8th inning against the Houston Astros who just happen to be one of the best offensive teams in all of baseball. He ended up walking Carlos Correa to start the 8th and then gave up a double. This was the end of the pursuit of perfection for the day.
Although he did not get the perfect game, it's still quite the accomplishment. No, the guy is not what he once was but if he can go out still at his age and pitch well every once in awhile he will have work in "the bigs."
It's time for science to study this guy and find out what it is about him that keeps him going. I'm saying "Big Sexy" is pitching in the Majors well into his 90's.
