It's been a long time since the Bethlehem Fairgrounds was used to its full capacity. There were multiple drive-thru fair food events held at the grounds throughout last summer, but it's been over 18 months since we've heard the familiar sounds of livestock, carnival rides, and the din of people shuffling around, stuffing their faces.

If the coronavirus continues to go away and Connecticut doesn't come back with more public restrictions, the 96th Bethlehem Fair has been set to happen on September 10, 11, and 12, at the fairgrounds on Main St. (Rt. 61) in Bethlehem.

According to the announcement on the Bethlehem Fairgrounds social media pages, the moving forward with plans for the in-person 2021 Bethlehem Fair is obviously contingent on Governor Lamont's public health guidelines and the pandemic levels staying low.

The organizers of the fair are going to have to adapt their usual set up and routines to ensure the public and their vendor's safety, but it should be rather easy to achieve. The fairgrounds is a gorgeous piece of land, and the way they set up the typical fair will just be a bit more spread out. We'll find out more I'm sure, as time goes along, but as of today, it's 148 days until we can stroll with our families, eating cotton candy, drinking fresh squeezed lemonade and firing fresh buttered corn on the cob down into our empty, lonely belly.
