I'm sure we all know someone who claims to have seen a UFO -- maybe it was even you who saw one. But what are the actual odds of seeing a UFO in Connecticut?

Well, finally, we can now break down the odds and we can even whack the numbers up by state, thanks to the team at Casino.org. They have been collecting data on every UFO sighting across the USA dating back to 1940. Using this data, they've calculated the odds of sighting a UFO in each state across the country.

All in all, there have been 273,253 recorded UFO sightings in the U.S. since data has been compiled, and believe it or not, more than 40,000 Americans have even taken out alien abduction insurance.

According to the statistics, your best odds of a sighting in the U.S. is in South Dakota at +11200, and your worst chance of seeing a UFO is in Florida at +341800. The lower the "+" number, the greater your chance of a sighting.

First, let me explain how these odds have been calculated: The sighting odds use the population of the state, compared with the total number of sightings in the state between 1940 and 2018.

So how do these sighting odds compare to your chances of a actually having a UFO encounter in Connecticut?

The estimated population of Connecticut in 2018 was 3.5 million people and there have been a total of 5,530 total sightings since 1940, so the odds of a sighting are +64600. More than 100 UFOs have been officially sighted in Connecticut during 2018, and there have already been 12 sightings since the start of 2019.

Spring and summer are typically the most common seasons for seeing a UFO. This could also be because people are outdoors more, looking up at the sky.

If you spot a UFO, you can report it to the National UFO Reporting Center using their hotline at 206-722-3000.
