If you're going to replace a playground, this is the time of the year to do it. This way, it's ready when the weather gets warmer, and kids and their parents can enjoy it.

That's just what's happening right now at Young's Field in New Milford. Here's the info direct from the New Milford Park and Rec's Facebook page:

The main concern with town officials and residents was the safety of not only Young's Field playground, but playgrounds at Sarah Noble Intermediate School, and Northville Elementary School too, that's why the Board of Finance along with the Town Council approved and allocated funds to purchase new equipment for all three sites.

According to newstimes.com, Parks and Recreation Director Dan Calhoun made the case on why this project needed to be done sooner rather then later.

It’s probably the most heavily used playground in town because of its location in the center of town, so it really needs to be replaced.

We’re starting to see a lot more repairs that we have to make. We’ve been Band-Aiding it.

Calhoun also said that not only will the playground project keep kids safer, but will be updated with newer equipment, and also have more climbers. He also thanked Mayor Bass for keeping the ball rolling on this project.
