Another disturbing story of alleged animal cruelty has just been announced by the Connecticut State Police - Troop D - Danielson. A 59 year old resident of Woodstock has been arrested and now faces an incredible 103 counts of Cruelty to Animals.

According to the Connecticut State Police - Troop D, 59 year old Tracy Donovan of Woodstock has been arrested and faces multiple charges after an investigation led to the discovery of 96 dogs, 2 cats, 2 exotic birds, 2 goats, and 1 wild rabbit that had been severely neglected. According to the report, Four of the dogs had to be euthanized to end their suffering.

The arrest warrant describes the sequence of events that lead up to Donovan's arrest started with Donovan's attempt in January to have a property acquisition company assess her property on Rt. 169 in Woodstock for a possible sale or purchase. Common sense says that you may tidy up a bit before inviting someone in to take a peek, but that didn't happen. The inspector found that the residence was in such dire shape, and the smell was so overpowering, they filed a complaint with NECCOG Animal Control, providing photographic evidence as backup. An additional complaint against Donovan was filed in June alleging that she had been selling dirty, skinny dogs and puppies from the residence.

Investigating officers discovered that the 1,920 square foot property was emitting a strong odor of feces and urine that could be detected 50 feet away. A search and seizure warrant was issued and executed on July 10, where 103 live animals were removed from the property. Donovan was taken into custody, charged with 103 counts of Cruelty to Animals, and was being held on a $150,000 cash/surety bond.
