Just the other day I was thinking how good the weather has been so far this winter, well I guess that was a mistake, maybe I jinxed things.

Looks like we're in for some winter weather today, tonight, and tomorrow. Now it's not the storm of the century, but according to the National Weather Service it looks like most of the area could see up to two inches of snow, and maybe a change over to some sleet, and even a little freezing rain before we see some clearing. The worst time for commuters will be Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

The timeline for this system will vary depending on where you are. Some areas of Greater Danbury, Dutchess and Putnam Counties could see snow flurries start as early as Tuesday morning, but for the most part Tuesday afternoon will be the main timeline for the snow to start. Areas of Danbury and some areas of the Hudson Valley could see a little more in the way of accumulation. See the full forecast below:

Here's the official forecast from the National Weather Service:

  • Tuesday- Look for snow to develop before 4 PM, then a mix of snow and sleet with high temps around 30. Snow accumulation around one inch.
  • Tuesday Night- Snow and freezing rain before 1 AM, low around 28. Less than an inch of snow accumulation.
  • Wednesday- Any rain, sleet or snow should start to tapper off before noon, then look for the chance of just rain until around 5 PM with high temps climbing to close to 40.

After Wednesday morning, we'll be in the clear for the rest of the week, with the next chance of any winter precipitation coming during the day on Sunday.
