Will Local Morning Show Host Join The Danbury Westerners?

The Danbury Westerners 2019 regular season is rapidly coming to a close, but just because the games may be over doesn't mean baseball fever is going away any time soon.

One notable infected is none other than i95 morning show host Lou Milano. He revealed he had contracted the urge to be around baseball more in an interview with Paul Schaffer- the former president and senior advisor for the Danbury Westerners. One of the side effects of this baseball fever was Lou insisting that he become the "morale coach" of the Westerners,a position that doesn't exist but he is more than willing to pioneer. Mr. Schaffer revealed the reasons why someone like Lou would be stricken; a Westerners game is "an evening of affordable, family entertainment while seeing tomorrow's stars." Check out the full interview:

Danbury plays in the New England Collegiate Baseball Leauge (the NECBL), which is second in prestige only to the Cape Cod League. The Westerners have been around since the beginning of it all, 25 years, and in that time have produced over twenty Major Leauge players. Professional scouts come to games and are "tracking players, especially during pre-game warm-ups", according to Mr. Schaffer.  A name that is very well known around these parts is Adam Ottavino, a relief pitcher for the New York Yankees who was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2004. When asked about future stars in the MLB, Paul listed several players who had been selected for the NECBL All-Star Game, a roster that included third baseman Nicholas Larusso, shortstop Alex Bello, and outfielder Caleb Upshaw.

There are only a few games left for the Westerners this year, but with a little luck, they'll be playing in the post-season and competing for the NECBL championship. However, if you attend a game in downtown Danbury next year, you may hear a familiar voice "raising morale" coming from the home team's dugout.
