Don’t be alarmed if you notice helicopters overhead in the coming days. It’s not the NSA or immigration or anything related to big brother (thank goodness).

It’s just the power company, Eversource, using the most high tech equipment available to check their power lines, according to the Danbury Patch.

The flyovers started yesterday and will continue through Wednesday, March 1, daily from 8:30 AM to 4 PM.

They are inspecting their high voltage electrical equipment from helicopters outfitted with heat sensing infrared detectors, which can trouble shoot equipment issues. What you’ll likely see in the sky if you’re out is either a blue and silver, or blue and white helicopter.

According to Eversource, these inspections will facilitate better service and fewer power outages. In other words, we’ll thank them for this later.
