If everything goes as planned, Danbury's Career Academy at The Summit, formerly the Matrix, will begin construction around the beginning of 2022.

Danbury's City Engineer and Public Works Director, Antonio Iadarola, told News Times and the Danbury school board, "Everything is moving very, very well."

The new state-of-the-art school is projected to hold 1,040 high school students and 360 middle school students when it opens for the 2023-24 school year and it will take up to three wings.

Tentative plans call for the school to offer six academies, including health services; information, cybersecurity, technology; scientific innovation and medicine; global enterprise and economics; art, engineering, design; and communications and design.

Also planned for the Danbury Career Academy is a training area for students studying to become emergency medical technicians (EMT).

The Summit at Danbury will eventually include new residential apartments, but there hasn't been a projected completion date finalized. In addition, to improve emergency response on Danbury's west side, a new communication center will be created to improve police and ambulance services.

News Times reported in December 2020 that Nuvance Health Systems would move into a 220,000 square feet section of the Summit, becoming known as "a city within a city."

Also, at The Summit at Danbury, you'll find Market Place Kitchen & Bar, Platinum Fitness, and eventually 400 residential apartments. To find out what the Summit can offer you, click on summitdanbury.com.
