No one wants it around, but how do you get rid of hazardous waste?

I'm not going to lie. I have piles of "things" at my house that I want to get rid of. I'm sure some of it qualifies as "hazardous" waste. I know it can't just get tossed in the dumpster, but what do I do?

Thankfully, a solution is right around the corner, Saturday, July 29, to be exact. That's the date planned for local residents to participate in a household hazardous waste clean up day.

Brookfield is the host of this event sponsored by the Housatonic Recovery Resources Authority. According to their website, this is open to residents not only of Brookfield, but also Bethel, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Kent, Sherman, and Bridgewater.

Saturday, July 29, from 9 am - 2 pm, you can bring your household hazardous waste to Brookfield High School, located at 45 Long Meadow Hill Road.

Not all items qualify for disposal during this event. All of the information on what you can and can not bring can be found on the Housatonic Recovery Resources Authority website.

If for some reason you're unable to utilize this event, don't worry. There is a listing of other dates, places, and towns that can partake, just click on hrra.org
