Wanderlust. Where are you going this weekend?

Sometimes nothing beats a "road trip." And who hasn't screamed "shotgun" when approaching your friends car for a drive. There is a reason that legions of people have put driving Route 66 on their bucket list.

We drove to all of our family vacations when I was a kid. My parents probably should have given that concept a lot more thought since I often got car sick. Honestly, to this day, you really don't want me sitting in the back seat of your car! I call SHOTGUN for a reason. I am the barf Queen. But put me in the front seat, or ask me to drive and I am a road warrior. Turns out I'm not alone.

According to the Department of Transportation, U.S. drivers traveled a record-breaking three-point-one trillion miles in 2015. The DOT says the previous record was just over three-trillion in 2007. Of course the fact that gas prices have continued to plummet in the past few years has certainly helped feed our ability to "hit the road." Now if I could just understand why lower gas prices don't equal lower air fares? There's places I want to go to that a car isn't helpful.

By the way, I love it when you call me and tell me you are listening, while driving! I feel like I'm in the seat right next to you- SHOTGUN! Listen to Pam Brooks weekdays from 10-3PM on 95.1 FM, online at i95rock.com/listen-live/ or by downloading the radioPup app for your mobile device.
