Have you been outside today? It's 75 degrees, and the smell of fried dough and sizzling hot dogs will soon fill the warm Spring air. The first big outdoor fairs and festivals of the 2024 season start up this weekend in Connecticut, are you ready?

Oh it's been a long, miserable Winter of 23-24 hasn't it? It's rained more than snow, but today's weather has me in full Spring Fever. In past years, the city of Meriden,, Connecticut has had to delay their annual Daffodil Festival due to the absence of warmth, but not this year. The 2024 Meriden Daffodil Festival is happening this weekend at Meriden's Hubbard Park this Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5. The festival runs 10AM-8PM on Saturday, and 10AM-4PM Sunday.

I can't wait for the food trucks to start rolling in. If you feel the same way, the first big outdoor food truck festival of 2024 in Connecticut is this weekend too. The New Britain Food Truck Festival and Carnival, at Bees Stadium in New Britain, happens this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 3-5, 2024.

I'm most looking forward to the 52nd annual Waterbury Greek Festival, which is happening inside the big tent in the parking lot of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 937 Chase Parkway in Waterbury. Four big days from Thursday, May 9 through Mother's Day, May 12. Get there early for the tomato plants, and stay around for the delicious gyros, shaved right in front of you. Here's the menu for 2024. I have dreamed of this weekend for a year, it's almost time.
