Waterbury Museum Presents Virtual Escape Room Based On Their Art

All businesses have had to adapt in some way to keep revenue coming in through the pandemic. We've seen plexiglass go up at every retail outlet in the past few months. But, how about the big spaces that rely on foot traffic? Museums have had to adapt and try to take advantage of what they have on hand, beautiful works of art. Waterbury's Mattatuck Museum came up with an idea that I thought was a cool idea, and I'd like to pass it along to you.

Escape Rooms have exploded in popularity over the past couple of years. I've seen a couple of them open here in Connecticut, one just recently in the Brass Mill Mall. But right now with the pandemic, the thought of being enclosed in a small room with strangers isn't exactly appealing. Virtual escape rooms are a thing though, and the Mattatuck is using various paintings from their artwork as the basic premise for the rooms that you will try to escape from in their version.

The MATT by Night: Virtual Escape Room is happening 4 different times: Tuesday August 4 from 7-8PM, and 8:30-9:30PM, and also on Thursday August 6 at those same times. You can play solo, or they will hook you up on a team. There is a slight cost, it's very minimal, and every dollar will go a long way to helping keep the arts alive. They do suggest a computer or laptop with a built in microphone, and say that playing the game on your phone might be a bit difficult to see. For more information and to register, click HERE
