Update On Route 22 Crash that Injured 3 Local Men
More information was released on Tuesday’s crash that injured three local residents and closed Route 22 for over six hours.
Tuesday around 7:50 a.m., 23-year-old David H. Mossman‘s northbound pickup truck crossed over the center line near the intersection of Route 22 and June Road, about a mile south of the Village of Brewster, and collided with an oncoming Verizon truck, police say.
The heavily demolished pickup truck came to rest on the northbound shoulder.
Mossman, from Southeast, was pinned in the wreckage. Volunteer firefighters needed about 40 minutes to extricate him using the Jaws of Life.
Mossman had multiple serious injuries, police say. He was still conscious when rescuers placed him in the helicopter for a flight to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He’s condition has not been updated since the initial crash.
The two men in the Verizon truck, 49-year-old Joseph J. Politi of Poughguag and Giuseppe Assenza, 48, from Poughkeepsie suffered minor injuries, officials say.
They were given first aid by members of the Brewster Ambulance Corps, Croton Falls Ambulance Corps and an ALS Paramedic and were taken by ambulance to Danbury Hospital for further evaluation.
Route 22 was closed for about six hours as the wrecked vehicles were cleared and investigators took a look at the crash.
The investigation into the crash is still under investigation.
