You're on a hiking trail and all of a sudden a black bear approaches. What would you do?

That is exactly what happened to a Newtown man walking a trail in Southbury near Lake Zoar. According to nbcconnecticut.com, Encon police were asked to report to the area near Lake Zoar where a man was knocked down by a black bear.

Luckily the hiker was able to escape serious injury by running away. The bear then ran away into the woods. Encon Police engineered a search but wasn't able to find the large hairy culprit.

Even though the 39-year-old hiker wasn't seriously injured, he was transported to Danbury Hospital just to make sure he was OK. For the most part, black bears rarely attack humans according to DEEP. If by chance you should meet up with one in the woods, whatever you do, do not attempt to share your baloney and cheese sandwich and your side of Doritos with Smokey.
