Just when you thought the summer congestion on the roads was coming to an end, now there's some I-684 paving to look forward too.

Starting tomorrow (August 30) and continuing through late November, crews will be out paving sections of 684, and that can only mean one thing — lane closures and traffic delays. (That was actually two things, but they go hand in hand.)

According to patch.com, drivers can expect ramp and lane closures on both Northbound and Southbound lanes of 684 between Route 22 and exit 8, which is the Hardscrabble Road exit. Also expect ramp closures on the I-84/684 merge at exits 9E and 9W as early as this Wednesday and Thursday.

Single lane closures can be expected during daytime hours, with double lane closures expected during the overnight hours through late November.

The New York State DOT reminds drivers to be careful and use extra caution when driving through work zone areas. Remember, crews are working, so pay attention to all warning signs, and also keep in mind speed restrictions, because fines will be doubled during construction.
