Just over four years ago I wrote The 10 Best Places in Connecticut for Whole Belly Clams, a lot has changed since then, some restaurants have permanently closed. It's time for an updated list.

Since my previous article in 2020, a few of my former picks have closed down for good - I will especially miss the Chowder Pot in Hartford. I've ordered fried whole belly clams across Connecticut 50-60 times since 2020? At least? I can't resist them on a menu, it's so rare in this sea of pizza, hot dogs, and fried clam strips. I love the burst of creamy ocean and guts you get with whole belly clams, the mix of sweet breading, clam and tartar saucet sends shivers every time. Whole belly clams are a true New England delicacy.
