Sunken Boat on Candlewood Lake Retrieved in Brookfield
This past Sunday evening (July 19), the Brookfield PD received a call about a boat sinking on Candlewood Lake.
DEEP immediately contacted the Brookfield PD's dive team to investigate along with the Candlewood Company dive team and Marine 25.Volunteer Fire Dept Candlewood Company FB Page
Once all teams had arrived, Marine-25 was able to find the sunken boat with the aid of M-25's sonar. DEEP determined that the occupant had escaped before it went down. Darkness had fallen, so the site was marked for retrieval on Monday (July 20) morning.
When Marine-25 and the Brookfield PD dive team returned the next morning, they returned to the marked site and had the boat up and out of the water within 30 minutes. It was then loaded onto Marine-25 and delivered to DEEP officials for examination.
Less than a week before this incident took place, the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Dept. Candlewood Company and the Brookfield PD dive team conducted training operations between the two departments which helped them execute this operation successfully.
