State Police: K-9 Uncovers Pills + Cocaine on I-84 in Danbury
Police say a narcotics K-9 sniffed out some illegal drugs during a recent traffic stop in Danbury.
According to the Connecticut State Police, 32-year-old Nataneal Collado was pulled over on Tuesday (January 21) after troopers say he was seen driving along I-84 in a vehicle without a visible license plate.
Once pulled over, alleged inconsistencies in Collado's responses prompted troopers to have the man exit the vehicle and conduct a search, which they say turned up 57 Clonazepam pills, also known as the generic form of Klonopin, and a digital scale.
From there, Collado was arrested and while he was secured inside of the cruiser, Favor, the police K-9 on site, placed her nose on the accused man's waistband, reportedly alerting the troopers that he may have been withholding something else from them.
After reportedly being informed that K-9 Favor is specifically trained to uncover narcotics, Collado allegedly told the troopers that he did in fact have two bags of cocaine on his person. In all, police say 5.9 grams of cocaine powder was seized in addition to the aforementioned pills.
Nataneal Collado was then taken to State Police Troop A headquarters in Southbury, where he was later released on an undisclosed bond. He is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on related drug charges early next month.
