State Grant Provides $3.8 Million For 97 Connecticut Nonprofits
We have done a lot of work with and for nonprofit organizations here in Connecticut over the years and I personally know how hard it is from talking with them through the pandemic for them to find donations of any kind.
There has been multiple instances of thieves sawing off the catalytic converters from organizational vehicles in the middle of the night. I wrote about Easter Seals in Waterbury and Ability Beyond in Bethel over the past year, both had to suffer after their vehicles were vandalized.
Good news just broke though, the Governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont has just issued a press release in which he has announced that $3.8 million dollars in state grant funds have just been released and the money is going to 97 nonprofit organizations here in the state.
According to the release, the money will be used to implement security improvements at the 97 nonprofit facilities. Non-profit organizations are at a heightened risk of being a target in a terrorist attack, hate crime or violent act. The grants are being awarded through Connecticut's new Nonprofit Security Grant Program, which Governor Lamont announced earlier this year.
Today's announcement is the first round grants that have been awarded to Connecticut nonprofits. The 97 recipients have not been announced publicly, as they are in the process of being notified of their grants.
Governor Lamont said -
We are fortunate to have so many nonprofit organizations here in Connecticut that provide an incredible amount of services to the people of our state and the Nonprofit Security Grant Program will help insure that they have the resources needed to make their staff and clients as safe as possible.
