For as far back as I can remember, the supermarket that operated at 75 Waterbury Road (Rt. 69) in Prospect was Oliver's. Over the past year, Oliver's Supermarket was sold first to Cheshire's Bozzuto's,inc., and then, in December of 2019, it was purchased by Bob Labonne, Jr. Slowly over the past 9 months, the LaBonne family has removed the traces of Oliver's, and have been re-branding the location as LaBonne's Market, Prospect. Things have really ramped up over the past couple of weeks, and just the other day, LaBonne's took to their social media to announce a "Socially Distanced Grand Opening Celebration" taking place at the end of the month. Labonne's took to their Facebook page this morning to show you a tease photo of their new under-construction Courtesy Booth, and to introduce you to their front end supervisor, Alex.

The Grand Opening Celebration of the newly renovated Labonne's Market - Prospect is happening at the Prospect store from 11AM to 5PM on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Mayor Bob Chatfield will attend the ceremonial ribbon cutting, and, in addition to the ribbon cutting, LaBonne's fuzzy mascot, LaBear, will be passing out treats for the kids and posing for selfies, and a local fire engine will be on site. The Prospect Police will bring their Police K-9 "Mayhem", 4 different food trucks have been announced, and there will be live music from Tom Scarola and Chris Newell, plus comedy sets from Joe Reddington and Andrew Manning. In-store games and giveaways are also planned. Facial coverings and social distancing are mandatory and will be enforced.
