Diner’s Request For Quiet Ignites Online Parenting Debate
It was a quiet, cold weekend in Litchfield County, but the social media sites of Torrington were burning with a lively discussion about an unruly child at a diner in town.
The issue was this: A local family diner told the parent of a 2-year-old child to quiet down as nearby patrons enjoyed their meals. That's it, but the parent took offense to this action and voiced their displeasure on social media. As we all know there are two sides to every story, and I have yet to see a public response from the diner's owner regarding the incident.

So, it's not my place to name the business, or the parent, but I've been to, and have written about this diner before. Let me also say that I don't have children, but I generally enjoy being around them. I think we can all say that we've been around a screaming/ebullient/joyous child at unexpected moments: movie theater, church, on a plane, and even right next to you as you eat a meal. It happens.
WHO WAS RIGHT? WHO WAS WRONG?
Both of them. They were both in the right in this situation, yet so many have chosen a side in the comments. As a business owner, they had the right to ask a parent to control their child for the sake of their other customer's enjoyment. As a parent, the establishment is a family diner, so serve the family, and remember, they're kids. I think it's important to say that none of us were there, so to offer an opinion without facts?
