Shocking Inferno: CT Fireworks House Intentionally Burned Down

I read about this last week and we discussed it on the I-95 Morning Show but the words do not do the story justice. According to the NY Post, a Shelton, Connecticut home was intentionally burned down by firefighters and the bomb squad in the name of safety.

On Saturday, June 27th the Post reported:

A suburban Connecticut home that firefighters found filled with dangerous fireworks was intentionally burned down Thursday after officials decided that was the best way to dispose safely of the explosives. Officials opted to set the Bruce Drive home aflame and let the haul of commercial-grade fireworks explode during a “controlled burn” after firefighters responded to a blaze in the garage Saturday — and then found a “significant” amount of the devices reportedly wired to a control panel.

I'd never heard of this happening before so it was an easy decision to make it a talking point on the Ethan, Lou & Large Dave Show but I should have looked at the video first because it's insane.

I love the 4th of July and the occasional recreational explosion but this homeowner probably took things too far. If you're wiring your fireworks to a control panel, you're doing too much. Fire off a few commercial grade big bombers, shoot off twelve bottle rockets, a pack of firecrackers, give the kids a sparkler and call it an evening.

Reports say it took firefighters about 40 minutes to put out the blaze when they were done burning the home and thankfully no one was injured.
