Do you remember the Seasons Buffet at Mohegan Sun? It's been 5 years since it closed down during the pandemic, and it hasn't come back.

Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods are two of my favorite places in the world, let alone Connecticut. They're adult playgrounds that let you indulge in excess, whatever your vice may be. For years my ultimate destination was the buffets, pay $25 and eat anything you want? I'm in. But those days faded five years ago.

As far as I can recall, the pandemic was the one thing that closed both of our world-class resort casinos. When the world shut down in March 2020, Mohegan and Foxwoods went away for a few months of temporary closure. Buffets went away at that moment in time too, many were scared to grocery shop next to someone, let alone eat from the same serving tray. My first Mohegan Sun visit post-pandemic was during the Fall of 2020, and I found that the slots were spread out for social distancing, plexiglass barriers were put up to protect customers and dealers at table games, and the Seasons Buffet was gone.

Losing the buffet was like losing a piece of my parents, they loved Mohegan Sun and went almost every weekend. Each trip ended with a stop at the buffet, where they got their feedbag on for the long ride back to Waterbury.

Why Hasn't Mohegan Sun Brought Back a Buffet in 2025?

You may have noticed that the price of food has been a bit unstable since 2020, and every 6 months there's a new shortage of an essential household food with a price spike. Will a buffet ever come back?
