UPDATE

According to Connecticut Post, police identified the victim as a 50-year-old Southbury man. He was transported to Danbury Hospital with "serious possible life threatening injuries."

Northbound Route 7 was shut down for a majority of the morning and is now reopen.

If you noticed your commute was pretty backed up this morning, it was due to an accident that took place on Route 7 in the early hours of today (Thursday).

According to Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, at around 2:50 this morning, members of their team were dispatched to Route 7 after they got a report of a rollover motor vehicle accident.

Initially, their reports indicated that the rollover involved a tractor trailer southbound, north of Exit 12. When both state and Brookfield police arrived on scene, they realized that the accident involved a single pickup truck on the northbound side, just north of exit 12. The accident was a single pick up truck rollover and when officers arrived, the party was still in the vehicle.

With the help of Car 1, 18-1 and Engine 5 from Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, they were able to remove the party from the vehicle with the help of the responding officers. Medic 1 and two other engines initially responded as well.

The party involved was transported to Danbury ED.
