Rescue crews searched the Housatonic River into the small hours of the morning Wednesday (September 26) in search of a possibly submerged vehicle.

According to a tweet from Norfolk's Public Information Officer, Jon Barbagallo, he and a crew from Norfolk were called in to assist officials from North Canaan who had begun searching for the vehicle in their town's section of the Housatonic at RT. 44 and Lawrence Avenue. Barbagallo says because of the fact that the river is 5 to 10 feet above normal, floating debris and muddy water made the search all that much more difficult. Here's some footage from the search:

After several hours, the search was called off just before 4:00 AM, and will resume with assistance from the Connecticut State Police some time this morning.

We'll continue to keep you updated on the search as the information rolls in.
