Police: Remains Stolen From CT Cemetery May Have Been for Voodoo Ritual

Police have reported that grave robbers have hit a cemetery in Hartford.

According to the Hartford Courant, grave robbing is still a "thing" in this day and age. A groundskeeper at Agudas Achim Cemetery in Hartford recently found that remains had been taken from a grave that had been there since the 50s earlier this week. Police are not ruling out the possibility that the remains were taken for some sort of religious ritual.

The cemetery's groundskeeping department, after finding the grave had been tampered with, immediately called the police. The grave digger who reportedly discovered the grave, Tommy Valentin, told NBC Connecticut that when he came across it, two dead chickens were floating inside of the grave, which had been full of water.

"We were walking to the cemetery to see if the tombstones are knocked down we were on that side of the field and we look this way we see a big pile of dirt." said Valentin in the NBC Connecticut interview. "We’re the only ones that dig here so we walked over here come to find out discover there’s a hole here so somebody dug it out."

With the investigation ongoing, police say the person or persons who are responsible for disturbing the grave could face charges of larceny and desecration.
