Police: Putnam County Teen Placed Anti-Semitic graffiti on Home
A Putnam County teen is accused of spraypainting anti-Semitic graffiti on a local home, near a school.
Louis Weber, 18, of Philipstown was arrested and charged with several hate crimes after a lengthy investigation into anti- Semitic graffiti, discovered in a home that was under construction in Nelsonville.
On October 31, 2018, police responded to 1 Brave Scout Way in the Village of Nelsonville on a report of criminal mischief.
Deputies found several swastika symbols spray painted on the walls and windows and the word “Kike” spray painted on a window, police say. The anti-Semitic graffiti was found within eyesight of a Cold Spring school, according to Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, 18th congressional district.
A few weeks later, a 17-year-old male of Garrison and 18-year-old from Highland Falls were arrested in connection with the crime. They were charged with burglary, a felony, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, making graffiti, and possession of graffiti instruments, misdemeanors.
Police continued to investigate and on Wednesday arrested Weber in connection with the anti- Semitic graffiti. The 18-year-old was charged with hate crimes for burglary, criminal mischief, felonies, criminal trespass and making graffiti, misdemeanors.
He was released from the Putnam County Correctional Facility on Thursday after $2,000 bail was posted pending a future court appearance in the Village of Nelsonville Justice Court.
