Police: Footage Shows Drunk Man Smashing CT State Police Vehicle
This is a story that leaves you with the very scary feeling of "what could have been?"
At about 5:00 am Saturday morning (November 27), 29-year-old Martin Jackson of Hartford, who police say was driving under the influence, lost control of his Acura and smashed into a Connecticut State Police SUV.
According to Police, the site of the crash was already filled with Department of Transportation vehicles and lots of state police cars investigating a fatality on I-91 in Cromwell that happened about almost four hours earlier.
Connecticut State Police video captured an Acura attempting to avoid the vehicles, which were parked investigating the earlier accident and blocking the lane, when it smashed into a, thankfully empty, police SUV. See the video here
The only one hurt in the incident was Jackson, the driver of the Acura. He was arrested, charged with DUI, operating with a suspended license, and failure to drive in proper lane and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was issued $2,500 bond and is due in court next month to face his charges.
Even though the results of the accident obviously could have been much worse, you can see from the photos that it was a very dramatic scene:
