A Danbury man has been arrested after police say he engaged state troopers into a pursuit earlier this year.

According to the Connecticut State Police, 31-year-old Anthony Vicente Nunez of Danbury was arrested this past Friday (November 29) when a warrant was executed at his Cleveland St. residence.

Police say that on June 5 of this year, Nunez was directed to pull over on at exit 6 on the eastbound side of Interstate 84. But rather than safely stop his vehicle on the side of the ramp, the Danbury resident allegedly engaged state troopers in a pursuit that saw speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour.

At that point, police say Nunez's "highly reckless" driving caused the troopers to disengage from the pursuit, as to not put other motorists on the local highway in any further danger.

The warrant for his arrest was issued shortly after the incident and with Friday's arrest, he has been charged with reckless driving, engaging in a police pursuit, unsafe movement of a stopped vehicle and interfering with an emergency call.

Anthony Nunez reportedly posted a $5,000 bond and was assigned a court date this past Monday, December 3.
