A Connecticut man has been arrested after police say he attacked a victim with a machete.

According to the Connecticut State Police, troopers responded to the report of a disturbance at a residence in North Windham, CT around 10:30 PM Wednesday night (July 24). When they arrived, troopers say they encountered a man with a machete wound to left arm and chest.

Police say that during the investigation, 52-year-old Doran Shumway, who lives at the North Windham residence, admitted to troopers that during a confrontation with the victim, he struck the unidentified man with a machete.

The injuries that the victim suffered in the attack were reportedly so life-threatening, that he had to be transported the Hartford Hospital via LifeStar, where he is currently in critical condition.

Doran Shumway was subsequently arrested and charged with criminal attempt to commit murder among other assault related charges.

He's being held on a $1 million bond and was scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.
