Police say a Connecticut man was arrested after being accused of making threatening statements at a local branch of the Department of Motor Vehicles.

According to the Connecticut State Police, 55-year-old Gregory Plaia of North Canaan is facing charges after an employee at the Norwalk DMV told police that he allegedly said "Today seems like a good day to shoot to kill," and then reportedly said that he would return to the branch at a later time.

As the result of an investigation into the matter, Plaia was arrested Thursday morning (August 22) and charged with threatening and breach of peace. He was processed and released after posting a $10,000 bond, and he is set to appear in court on September 13.

In an official statement, the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Bongi Magubane said, “I am so proud of the DMV team at the Norwalk branch for immediately reporting the threatening comments made by a customer this morning. The safety of our employees and customers is a top priority for the DMV and their quick actions are to be commended."

Also, the Connecticut State Police took the opportunity to remind the public to be vigilant and prepared to report anything that could become a safety issue. They said "If you see (or hear) something, say something."
