Police: Bethel Teen Charged After Family Member Dies From BB Gun Wound
A local teen has been arrested after police say he fatally shot a family member with a BB gun.
According to the Bethel Police Department, the 16-year-old teen, who will remain unidentified because of the domestic violence confidentiality policies and the fact that he is a juvenile, shot the aforementioned family member in the chest on Friday night (March 13). The victim later died at the hospital.
When first responders arrived at the Bethel home after receiving the initial report around 6:30 PM, the victim was reportedly found to be suffering from a chest wound in the kitchen.
Police say that when the victim stopped breathing as a result of the BB gun shot wound, CPR was administered before he was rushed to the hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The unidentified juvenile was arrested, taken into custody and charged with manslaughter and assault. He is now in the custody of Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center.
