A woman in New York recently witnessed a man sitting on the sidewalk in the Bronx, casually eating a rat. And not just any rat—this one was raw, straight off the streets of New York City, no cooking involved.

Honestly, this feels par for the course for New York City in 2025. I mean, when you think of NYC, the rat is basically its mascot. Sure, the cockroach might give it a run for its money, but let's be real—the rat is still king. Which got me thinking: if we had to eat an animal in Connecticut that’s most famous here, what would it be?

And I think this one’s a no-brainer—it’s got to be the mountain lion. Sure, Connecticut doesn’t actually have mountain lions, but that hasn’t stopped people from constantly reporting sightings of them. We talk about mountain lions more than any other animal, and it’s always because someone’s either confused or excited. Try typing "Mountain Lion" into Connecticut’s Reddit and enjoy the chaos that unfolds.

We'd need to import the lion meat but that is such a Connecticut thing to do.

We even discussed the rat incident on the Monday (03/17/25) edition of the I-95 Morning Show. We went around the room asking, "What animal would you eat raw, if your life depended on it?" The answers? Chipmunk and hamster. You can find out how we got there below.

And for the record, I’m totally against eating small animals raw, but hey, in this life-or-death scenario, we’re just thinking practical.

Wildlife Expert Shares Connecticut's Top 5 Most Dangerous Animals

To come up with the 5 Most Dangerous animals in Connecticut I consulted with an expert. Her name is Jen "The Zookeeper" Kotkin and she immediately took issue with the phrasing "the most dangerous." I mean she knew what I was angling for but made clear to me that these animals are only dangerous when approached, protecting their cubs and food, etc. She told me: "wild animals aren’t out there looking to start fights, and take the flight versus fight route whenever possible."
