A Stratford, CT resident is facing a few different charges after police say he was involved in a recent fight that took place in Newtown, resulting in a stabbing injury.

According to the Newtown Police Department, 62-year-old Charles Tyler of Stratford was arrested Thursday evening (July 9) after officers responded to reports of a large fight happening at a condominium complex on South Main Street.

The responding officers say that when they arrived, an investigation found that Tyler had been allegedly attempting to stab a family member with a knife. During the melee, a third family member, who was trying to intervene, was stabbed in the hand. That person was then transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment.

As of this writing, no other injuries or arrests have been reported in relation to this particular incident.

Police say Charles Tyler was arrested on the scene and taken into custody where he was formally charged with assault in the second degree, threatening in the second degree, and breach of peace.

He was held on a $50,000 bond over night before being taken to Danbury Superior Court on Friday morning.
