Always such sad news. A motorcycle crash has claimed a victim in Sandy Hook.

The Newtown Police Department has released the identity of a Newtown man involved in a crash on April 18 on 195 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.

According to a press release from officer Timothy Schoen of the Newtown PD, the sole victim of the accident is 37-year-old, Martin Amidon of Newtown, who was driving a black and red street motorcycle. The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Amidon was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. Police say Amidon was the operator and sole occupant of the bike.

The press release also states that the Newtown Police Department is asking for the public's help.The incident is still under investigation and as such, they are requesting any witnesses that may have seen the accident or the vehicle operating in the area prior to the accident to contact Officer Lorancaitis.
