With so many businesses suffering and closing down over the last year, it's nice to see some places opening in the area and New Milford seems to be leading the way.

Just yesterday (Wednesday) a new Jersey Mike's opened their doors in New Milford in the Litchfield Crossings Shopping Plaza.

This is the third Jersey Mike's location owned by Scott Kostrya, who already operates Jersey Mike's on Federal Road in Brookfield and in the Cops Hill Plaza in Ridgefield.

New Milford Mayor Pete Bass is excited to see another successful business open in New Milford, and echoed that sentiment to newstimes.com.

We are excited to have Jersey Mike’s open and invest in New Milford. With well over 30 new positions and their commitment to partnering with the community through nonprofit sponsorships as an example, it is a win-win for the New Milford community.

The new store is already giving back to the community. For the first five days, now through Sunday, Jersey Mike's will be offering a free regular sub to anyone making a $3 donation to Camella's Cupboard which is a nonprofit organization that provides meals to children with food insecurity. They have already given out $159,000 in meals to families in the area according to founder Angela Chastain. Jersey Mike's is hoping for your support, and they are hoping to giveaway 5000 subs at this time.

Now if Jersey Mike's wasn't enough, there's more good news for New Milford. The popular Mexican chain Chipotle will be opening a location next to Jersey Mike's. Look for that grand opening within the next month or so.
