New Milford Couple’s Sand Castle Toy in the Running For the Top Award in the Industry

New Milford's Kevin and Laurie Lane are in the running for the top award in the toy industry.

The local couple and their sand castle toy have been featured on TV shows, and has received nationwide press for their sand castle toy, "Create a Castle." That toy has been nominated for Toy of the Year for 2020, according to WTNH. Laurie Lane said “It’s the Oscars of the toy world.”

The toys themselves are intricate mold systems that come in varying degrees of difficulty. Kevin says his family owned a bakery growing up, where he was exposed to the molding process. The Sand Castle molds have been compared to spring form cake molds. The International Award will be announced on February 21, and we are rooting for the locals.
