New Milford Barn Fire Prompts Responses From Neighboring Towns
A large barn fire in New Milford prompted firefighters from multiple local towns to spring into action Friday morning (Feb. 15).
Word of the fire first hit when a social media post from New Milford's Water Witch Hose Co. #2 cited the fact that they were fighting a fire on Town Farm Rd. They reported that local roads were closed, power was shut off temporarily and that tankers would be bringing water to the site from Grove St. and Hine Hill.
After the Water Witch Hose Co. called for assistance, both fire engines and tankers from neighboring towns like Brookfield, Sherman, Bethel and Bridgewater quickly responded at around 9:30 AM.
CT Post reports that by 10:12 AM, the majority of the 2-alarm fire, which was determined to be on the property of Clatter Valley Farm, had been extinguished. The water was turned off in order to survey the damage done to the barn itself.
As of this writing, it is unclear as to whether or not there we any injuries to anyone or any animals that may have been inside of the barn.
This is a developing story and we'll be sure to keep you updated as more information rolls in.
