BAR New Haven Requires Proof of Vaccination or Negative Test

If you'd like to enjoy a slice or nine at a spot that Barstool's Dave "El Prez" Portnoy listed among the top spots in the "Pizza Capitol of the World," you're going to need proof you've been vaccinated against COVID-19 or proof of a negative test result.

According to BAR New Haven's website, the wildly popular pizza/nightlife destination has informed patrons that in order to be admitted into their establishment, individuals who have been vaccinated must either present the proof of vaccination card itself or be able to provide a "clearly legible photo" of said card. Those who are unvaccinated must bring either printed or digital proof of negative COVID-19 test with the results having been received within 72 hours of arrival at the restaurant.

In my personal opinion, I think 'proof of vaccination' will eventually be required at many indoor restaurants, bars, and even retail establishments. Luckily Connecticut has the fourth-highest vaccinated residents at 64.45%, behind Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine but that doesn't mean your exempt from contracting the virus.

Connecticut towns that currently have mask mandates whether you've been vaccinated or not are New Haven, Hartford, Stamford, Bridgeport, Norwalk, Danbury, Ridgefield, Redding, Brookfield, and New Fairfield. Danbury Mayor Joe Cavo told the Hartford Courant;

I previously stated that a regional approach would be the most effective way to issue this mandate. After reaching out to local officials from surrounding towns, we are hopeful that Brookfield, Bethel, and Ridgefield may issue similar guidance in the coming days.

According to the Mayo Clinic, even if you're fully vaccinated, you can still transmit COVID-19 and its variants. Fully vaccinated individuals can also catch the virus, but in most cases, the symptoms are not as severe as an unvaccinated individual.

Approximately two weeks ago, Mindy and I were having lunch with friends, and one of them who had been fully vaccinated tested positive for the virus. So, to be on the safe side, I got tested as soon as I found out. Thank God I tested negative. My friend immediately quarantined himself and his wife and showed some flu-like symptoms, which disappeared after 48 hours.
