Going to the lighted boat parade in New Fairfield on Friday night? (July 12.) The town of New Fairfield and the Candlewood Lake Authority have a few things they want you to know.

The parade kicks off at 8:45pm.  There are approximately 25-30 lit up and decorated boats that will be cruising by the following points; Spear Point, Chatteron Marina, Knollcrest, CT State Boat Launch area, New Fairfield Town Park, ending at Candlewood Isle.

The public viewing area for the boat parade will be at the New Fairfield Town Park/Beach located at 180 Route 39. Parking is limited to New Fairfield residents only, and space is very tight there.

Parade viewers are asked to park at the Town Hall/Memorial Field lots located at 4 Brush Hill Road and board the shuttle buses behind the building starting at 7pm. Carpooling is strongly recommended.

If you are watching the parade from your boat, Candlewood Lake Authority recommends you make sure of the following:

  • Do not exceed the maximum occupancy of your vessel.
  • You must have a coast guard approved life vest on board for each passenger.  Children under the age of 13 must wear their life jacket.
  • Your boat must have working navigation and anchor lights.
  • Do not anchor or position your boat near the shoreline in the path of the parade route.

Have fun and enjoy! It should be a festive night. In the event of rain, the parade will be held on Saturday (July 13.)
