More Greater Danbury ‘Hole-in-the-Wall’ Restaurants That Will Freak Out Your Tastebuds
Many of you who read my first blog about Greater Danbury's Hole-in-the-Wall Restaurants mentioned that I left out a couple, so here comes Vol.2.
Many small restaurants around the greater Danbury area -- from New Milford to Newtown, Danbury to New Fairfield -- define New England. Some of those eateries may not look glamorous from the outside, but on the inside, the sweet savory smells of mouthwatering homemade food awaits you. Too much?! EL Ranchero - Danbury
El Ranchero is located at 20 White St. in downtown Danbury is praised by many as having the best tacos and Mexican fare in Connecticut. Flautas, tostadas, barbecued goat tacos, and tres leches cakes are some of the favs from Yelp reviewers.

Sonny Side Up - Danbury
Sonny's is located at 45 Padanaram Rd. in Danbury and is always packed with customers. Sonny's is described by Yelp reviewers as quaint, comfortable, delicious, great staff, and Sonny, the owner, is hilarious. Their breakfast and lunch menus are unique. Google reviewers give it a 4.6 out of 5. If you go for breakfast during the prime times on the weekends, you may have a short wait, but it IS worth it!

Sprouts Vietnam Cuisine - Bethel
Sprouts is located at 6B Elizabeth St. in Bethel and gets rave reviews for their Pho and their vegetarian tofu options. The owner attended culinary school in Ho Chi Minh City and gears her food to the American palette but it's truly authentic Vietnamese food. Chicken and steak Pho and their fresh spring rolls are highly recommended.

Kaptein's Corner Deli - Danbury
Kaptein's Corner Deli is located at 38 Shelter Rock Road in Danbury. There is actually 'love' expressed by Yelp reviewers for this deli. Their signature sandwiches are known throughout Danbury. I've been told told to try the Maximus. Also recommended is the Melo, If you've been looking for a Kosher Jewish deli, this is the one with beef brisket to die for.

Alpenhaus Restaurant - New Milford
According to Yelp.com., one of the very best German eateries in our area is Alpenhaus Restaurant which is located at 59 Bank St. in New Milford across the street from the Bank Street Coffeehouse. The owner, Manuela, immigrated from Germany 22 years ago and co-owns the restaurant with her husband Jeff. Reviews on Yelp, which were just short of a straight 5 out of 5 along with Google reviews were outstanding, so if authentic German food like spaetzle and sauerbraten are your thing, this is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant you must try. Almost forgot that Alpenhaus has their very brew pub called the Steinbock Tavern.

Johana's Restaurant - New Milford
Johana's is literally a hole-in-the-wall restaurant located right next to the New Milford Newstimes office at 47 Main St. in New Milford. The space is tiny but quaint and the food is all homemade from start to finish. Almost every reviewer on Yelp raved about the Scotch Eggs, hard boiled eggs wrapped in homemade sausage with a creamy mushroom sauce. They even make their own OJ.
