At 1.2 million square feet, the Matrix Corporate Center is the largest single office building in southwestern Connecticut.

The Danbury Patch has reported that Summit Development with headquarters in Southport, CT. has announced they've reached a deal to purchase Danbury's Matrix Corporate Center for $17.8 million.

Summit "specializes in opportunistic and distressed real estate investments." As of yet, the company has not made a statement about what they have planned for the corporate park.

The Matrix was built in 1982 and was the world headquarters for the Union Carbide chemical company which moved more than 3,000 workers into the complex. My wife Mindy spent one year as the head nurse at the Matrix Corporate Center in 1986 which at the time was run by Danbury Corporate Health. She sped around the complex in a golf cart and remembers the corporate bigwigs used to come and go by helicopter from the Matrix helipad.  Let's take an inside look at the Matrix filmed in October 2017.

The building rests on 5,000 pillars driven into the ground at heights of 5 to 40 feet. As a whole, the structure consists of 15 interconnected buildings around a central core. In its heyday, not only was it a prestigious office complex but it also hosted a thriving catering business for weddings and corporate functions.
