God bless Jim Koplik. The man is responsible for bringing pretty much any headline entertainer that you've ever wanted to see live in concert here to Connecticut over the past 50 years. I've just learned that he's working to bring a couple of huge music festivals to Connecticut next year. One that has been held in NYC for the past 10 years, and another to fill the void that the Gathering of the Vibes left when it crapped out in 2015.

I recently had the pleasure of a behind-the-scenes tour of the beautiful new Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport. Mr. Koplik, and the Amphitheater's owner, Howard Saffan gave our group the tour, and filled us members of the local media in on the hard work that it took to make their vision come to life.

Well, according to ctpost.com, Koplik and Saffan are working hard again, this time with the organizers of NYC's Governors Ball, and another homegrown large-scale music festival, to Bridgeport's Seaside Park in September 2022.

You've probably heard of Governors Ball before. The event just celebrated its 10th anniversary. It was held on Randall's Island until last year, when it was moved to Citi Field. It's featured some of the biggest names in the music industry: Billie Eilish, Eminem, Jack White, Kanye West, Megan Thee Stallion, Stevie Nicks, Guns N Roses, and Post Malone, to name a few. Next year, the organizers of Governors Ball may take another large-scale event to Bridgeport.

Koplik and Saffan are reportedly working to move the event to Connecticut next September. In addition, according to ctpost.com, Koplik and Saffon also want to bring an additional large-scale music festival to Seaside Park the same month, not as a replacement for the Gathering of the Vibes, but, sort of. The new Seaside park festival would reportedly occur September 17 & 18, 2022, while the other huge music festival would be held the following weekend, September 24 & 25, 2021.

I loved going to the Gathering of the Vibes. It was such a unique event in a beautiful location. The Vibes died off in 2015 after a financial dispute between the city of Bridgeport and the festival's organizers. That's one aspect that Bridgeport officials won't have to worry about with Koplik and Saffan, they've proven that they are supremely organized by constructing Bridgeport's multi-million dollar new Amphitheater during the pandemic. Hopefully they'll pull this off, what a score for Connecticut music fans.
