We now know the name of the man police say opened fire in Danbury earlier this week, leaving one person hospitalized and sparking a wild chase on I-84. According to Danbury Police, 47-year-old Tyrone Tallman of Danbury has been identified as the suspect in Tuesday’s shooting on Lake Avenue.

Tallman was arrested after leading officers on a pursuit that ended near the New York state line when his car slammed into a police cruiser. Police say a handgun was recovered at the scene. The officer involved in that crash only suffered minor injuries. The victim, who was shot in the neck, was rushed to the hospital and their current condition has not been released.

Tallman is now being held on a $1 million bond and faces a long list of charges, including:

  • First-degree assault with a firearm
  • Second-degree assault
  • Reckless endangerment
  • Breach of peace
  • Illegal discharge of a firearm
  • Multiple traffic charges tied to the pursuit

The investigation is still ongoing, but for the first time the public has a name attached to the case — Tyrone Tallman — the man accused of turning a Tuesday evening in Danbury into chaos.

Police have not yet released a motive, nor have they identified the victim.
