Police Investigating a Weekend Shooting in Poughkeepsie

It's becoming an all-too-familiar headline for residents, as police are once again investigating a shooting that left a young man hospitalized in Poughkeepsie.

According to the City of Poughkeepsie PBA, officers were called to the area of Montgomery Street and South Hamilton Street on Saturday, August 1, after multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunfire.

Police said calls began coming into City 911 at approximately 4:58 p.m., prompting numerous officers to quickly respond to the area. When they arrived, they found a 22-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators said the victim had been shot in the chest and buttocks.

Before emergency medical personnel arrived, officers immediately began providing lifesaving aid, including applying a chest seal to one of the victim's wounds before he was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Thankfully, officials said the victim was listed in stable condition.

Investigation Ongoing

After securing the scene, Crime Scene Technicians and detectives began processing the area for evidence and were able to recover multiple pieces of evidence as they worked to determine exactly what happened and who was responsible for the shooting.

As of now, no arrests have been announced, and investigators have not released any information about a possible suspect or what may have led to the gunfire.
