It’s the End of an Era at Brookfield’s Fox Hill Inn

After 50 years of weddings and banquets, the Fox Hill Inn in Brookfield has been listed for sale.

It's been one of the premiere wedding and banquet halls in Western Connecticut for almost 50 years, now the popular catering hall, located just off Federal Road, is listed on the market by Scalzo Real Estate. According to loopnet.com, the property will become available in January of 2022, and right now the sale price listed is $3.25 million for the property which is situated on 3.53 acres, and is 23,512 sq. ft. which includes two buildings built in 1971.

The Fairfield Catering Group, which has put the property on the market, not only owns the Fox Hill Inn, but the Candlewood Inn in Brookfield, The Waterview in Monroe, Riverview in Simsbury, and Le Chateau in South Salem N.Y.

Right now, there's been some speculation as to what the wedding and banquet facility will turn into when the property is finally sold. Initial ideas that are currently being thrown around are a medical or retail office, or possibly even a new restaurant. Some are even talking about turning the venue into a house of worship. A full commercial kitchen does lend itself to the rumors of the building being turned into some type of corporate campus.

According to ctpost.com, Brookfield First Selectman Steve Dunn sent out an email about the sale of the property stating that he would like to see it remain a banquet facility if possible, but no matter what the future holds for the property, he would like to see it developed in a way that would be sensitive to the neighborhood surrounding the property, especially the residents of Rollingwood Condominiums which is right where the Fox Hill Inn is located.

One thing the owners have thought about is when the property is sold, it will eliminate one source of competition, the Candlewood Inn, which is also located in Brookfield on Candlewood Lake Road, only about 10 minutes from the Fox Hill Inn's location.
