I recently returned from a trip. I went to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for my cousin's kid's wedding. My cousin took me to a new store that I had seen before but I'd never been into.

It was called At Home and if you want to deck your house, condo, or apartment with thousands of accoutrements, one of the biggest players in national home décor stores is about to make a second foray into the Connecticut landscape.

At Home is a national home décor retailer based out of Plano, Texas and they operate around 225 stores in 40 states. The only Connecticut At Home location is currently in Manchester at 1181 Tolland Turnpike in the Shoppes at Burr Corners.

It's a massive store, around the size of a WalMart, Costco, or BJ's and is over 110,000 square feet. At Home carries everything from Furniture and Pillows, to Wall Décor, Rugs, Kitchen & Dining Supplies, Bed & Bath, Storage & Cleaning, and a huge selection of Outdoor merchandise.

I was able to find a Bocce set while I was in the At Home in Oklahoma City and they had a great selection of fire pit accessories. I was able to get a new set of skewers for S'mores this summer.

According to an article from the New Haven Register, At Home has targeted North Haven's Universal Drive for it's second Connecticut location. It will be in the North Haven Commons Shopping Center where Toys R Us, Babies R Us, and Ulta beauty used to be.

According to the article, it's going to be awhile. Permits, renovations, rebuilding, etc. will all have to take place first, and the reported targeted opening date is early 2022. Until then, you can head up to the Manchester, CT store, or there's two relatively nearby in Nanuet and Middletown, NY.

Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
