Waterbury Police are asking for public help to locate an individual who was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run this past Saturday, severely injuring a pedestrian.

A little after 2 AM on Saturday, May 22, Waterbury Police responded to a report about a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the area of Frost Road and Homestead Ave. Police say they were able to locate a 31-year-old female who was facing serious life threatening visible injuries due to being struck by the vehicle.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and was then transferred to another facility due to the severity of the injuries.

According to police, as they continued investigating the incident, they realized there was a prior disturbance involving the victim who was struck. She was involved in an assault, and as she was walking in the area of Frost Road and Homestead Ave, she was struck by the vehicle who ended up fleeing the scene.

Waterbury Police determined that the car involved was a Black 2007 Jeep Cherokee with license plate BB-74168 and the person accused of operating the vehicle is Stacy Edwards of Waterbury.

On May 22, Waterbury officers obtained a warrant for Edwards' arrest but she has not been apprehended. Police are asking that anyone with any information on Edwards' location to contact Officer Guisto of the Crash Reconstruction Unit at 203-346-3975 or Crime Stoppers at 203-775-1234.

Edwards is being charged with Breach of Peace in the second degree, Assault in the third degree, Criminal Attempt at Manslaughter in the first degree, reckless driving, and evading responsibility - serious physical injury.
